Google says a veteran is someone who has served in the military, so I have two in my family to honor today. Historically, Quakers are lovers of peace and usually serve as conscientious objectors if called to the military. So if any members of Mauri’s side of the immediate family served in the armed forces, I don’t have pictures to show it.

Paul in uniform

Here’s Paul before I knew him.

T in uniform

‘Twould be fun for Paul to have seen his son in uniform. I credit Taylor’s time in the military for helping him develop good habits and training/educating him in the field that now employs him and supports his family.

Quinn and her family drove for 12 hours straight to attend and witness Taylor’s graduation (in Oklahoma) from basic training. It was a big surprise to T to discover they were there. After the ceremony he showed us his barracks, we all went to Red Lobster for a celebration lunch, and the Andersons hit the road back to Colorado, 12 more hours straight. If that ain’t love, I don’t know what is.
