Last night we drove 21 miles to buy licorice. Black licorice. Target is the closest store that sells the good stuff. These August evenings call out for any excuse to take a drive while the top is off the jeep.

Our friend Ridgely, from Bellingham, WA, stayed with us while she visited her daughter, Jessica. Ridge and Darcy made fast friends.

Note paw, eye, and tail tip (the dog’s, not Ridgely’s).

Well, you’re going to need to bear with me while we get through the puppy stage. It isn’t as though we can ignore an energetic, sometimes wild, animal in the house whose teeth are weapons of mass destruction and need constant supervision. But oh is she cute!

I could have posted a link to a friend’s blog but I’ll just post what he posted. It’s pretty funny.

We’re in our final week with Josh Reid as our youth pastor. He’s accepted a teaching position at a Portland Christian high school. Here’s our team enjoying one last lunch together at our favorite pizza joint.

So while I listen to Josh pack up his office across from mine I continue to recite one of my favorite quotes: “Don’t cry because it’s over; smile because it happened.”

Daughter (in-law) Erin made the local paper this week. She’s famous! Check it out…
