beth moore live

On Friday Quinn and I met in Salt Lake City to attend a Beth Moore Living Proof Live conference. I’ll list a few of my many highlights:

• Standing beside Quinn as we blended our voices with 4,598 others in uninhibited praise and worship.
• Shuffling pages in my Bible as Beth led us from one passage of Scripture to another. We kept returning to Ephesians 3:17-21 as she drove home the main focus: God’s measureless love for us.
• “God’s going to call you up on the dance floor and he’s going to turn you every which way but loose.”
• “We often want God to work through us but not in us.”
• It’s been a long time since I witnessed people walking toward the front as an invitation to receive Christ was offered. I might have expected all of those women to already be in relationship with him, but 55 women were adopted into God’s family right before my eyes.
• Not once but twice we got to sing “In Christ Alone.” The words are so rich, a testimony to my position in Christ:

Verse 1
In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled when strivings cease
My comforter, my all in all
Here in the love of Christ I stand

Verse 2
In Christ alone who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones he came to save
‘Til on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For ev’ry sin on him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live

Verse 3
There in the ground his body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious day
Up from the grave he rose again
And as he stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
For I am his and he is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ

Verse 4
No guilt in life no fear in death
This is the pow’r of Christ in me
From life’s first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No pow’r of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from his hand
‘Til he returns or calls me home
Here in the pow’r of Christ I’ll stand

Thanks, Q, for inviting me to join you at this conference. I’m already looking forward to the next one.
