It was a lovely sunny day here in the valley and out at the coast. I should feel guilty taking so much pleasure in our Oregon weather, considering the snow in Michigan and Philadelphia can be measured in feet. But I’m not that nice.
So I made arrangements with our young neighbor to look after Mr. Darcy and headed across the coast range to spend the day with Mauri.
You can see his life out there isn’t very different from his life with me. In his oft-spoken words: “A man’s work is never done.” I’d say I have him fairly well trained, wouldn’t you?
The work was eventually accomplished (I dried, and was also offered an apron for my task). We logged some sand miles, ate bowls of delicious chowder, sipped hot drinks in a small cafe, shopped a Goodwill store (my guilty pleasure), shared a parking-lot farewell kiss, and I hit to road to Newberg. A lovely tide-us-over day.
