This website has been out of sorts of late, a legitimate excuse for me to spend my free time working on home projects instead of pestering you with blather about my life. But now the site’s humming along again, and I’m glad to be back.
“Spending time with God alone together” is one descriptor for what happens at Sabbath by the Sea, where Mauri has spent most of his Januarys for the past ten or more years. The church blesses him with the freedom to serve in these retreats while enjoying a change of pace and scenery. Though my scenery doesn’t change (someone has to take care of the dog), my pace certainly does! Nearly every minute I’m not at work or sleeping, I’m “doing a project.”
Oh, don’t think for a minute those won’t show up here, now that I’m back in the blogging business. We’ll just work our way in gradually as I give you a little taste of how Mauri and I do the “alone together” thing.
In addition to our nightly Skype, we stay tuned to each other’s days by an occasional e-mail or text or…
…with pictures! Darcy got into something she shouldn’t, so she had to stand in the corner.
Of course he sends multiple sunset pictures. It’s hard to not.
I share what my dinner (and entertainment) looks like.
His dinner is a bit more exotic, but truth be told, mine looks better (to me).
His day always includes some musical work. Here’s something you might know. And here’s a Sydney Carter tune he recorded just for fun.
His new knees allow him walks on the beach. Yes, they made him considerably taller.
“The boy” came for a lunchtime visit with his parents, so I naturally wanted to share that.
So now you see how we stay together while apart.
