jetty - 1

In 1998, during a Harbor Villa family reunion, I joined the others on a beach walk to the Barview jetty and back. It was a mere two miles there and two miles back. We were all oh so very young.

In 2007, during another Harbor Villa family reunion, the family made the trek without me (a broken ankle had laid me low).

Nearing the destination.

On the jetty!

In 2013, during the annual week at the beach with our “kids,” we decided to walk it again (because we can!) Erin and Brynn (among others) decided to make the trek too. A mere four miles could be walked in an hour and a half, right? We’d be back in time for lunch!

Twelve power walkers! Make that nine walkers. Three littles left no prints in the sand.

The best part: conversations along the way.

The goal is finally in view.

Stopping to sightsee along the way.

Just a stone’s throw away.

We made it! A worthy accomplishment to celebrate our 19th anniversary as mister and missus. A year ago we wouldn’t have dreamed of walking so far.

Will was glad to walk around.

Bailey and Marissa never tire of each other’s company.

You saw these two in the 2007 pic.

I rolled up my pant legs and got my ankles wet. Cassidy (Sage, Bailey, and Marissa) braved more of the frigid water.

distance 3.0

Well, turns out Google Maps says it’s three miles to the jetty—and we ate a very late lunch.
